I suppose it's technically possible for them to cast an actor I can't stand or write him in a way that does nothing for me....but it hasn't happened yet and even if it did, it would be "I don't enjoy watching him" rather than "I don't like him". Is that a weird approach to the character?

Until Eleven. I seriously can't even connect him to the Doctor. It does not work in my mind.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-28 03:48 am (UTC)(link)And then about two minute into "The Eleventh Hour" I was going "OH LOL WHOOPS SORRY LEMME TAKE THAT BACK" because WOW I was head over heels in love pretty much immediately, despite eye-rolling a good fifteen times throughout the episode at Moffat's general gender-fail and scariness try-hardism.
Should've seen it coming, since I had the exact same "no wai I can't possibly accept him!" followed by near-immediate "lol totes lovestruck!" reaction when I first saw one of Ten's episodes after only seeing Nine before.
So....maybe it's just a lightbulb thing? A Doctor has to kind of click into place firmly in your head to like him, and if something stops it (like, say, Moffat's goddamn writing), it's just very difficult to overcome because you keep comparing that incarnation to all the other incarnations...
