He was a Ravenclaw, not a Gryffindor. Unless you're just referring to him not being a Slytherin.

Personally I think the most terrible non-Slytherin character in the books was Pettigrew. Backstabbing rodent...

Yeah, I was a bit confused about Lockhart as well...

Also, agreed about Pettigrew, and I liked how they made him a Gryffindor Death Eater, because it further breaks down the stereotype of "Slytherins = Death Eaters, Gryffindors = heroes" In a sense, you are defined by your choices, and you can make those choices independent of the House you are in.
