I watched one episode of that show for a particular guest star and found it to be the most incredibly boring thing ever. I always assumed I just got unlucky and in was just a bad episode but after reading your secret... maybe not? I know it had a big fandom, though.

Actually, it was the guy who played Methos on Highlander playing Badly-Accent Australian... Terrorist? Jewel Thief? I don't remember.

Almost no one does Australian accents right. Maybe New Zealanders can (hey, they have almost the same accent anyway!), but most everyone else... just no. Don't even try. Hire an Australian instead.

(I say this as an Australian who cringes at bad Aussie accents.)
