Oh man, I love Aimo's work. And yes, we do need more dwarves! ~~Particularly more like Varric because I love him, but I don't think that's an unpopular sentiment, haha.~~

Haha, yea, Varric is the one thing I will always agree with the Dragon Age fandom about. I was so pleased that he was pretty much universally loved because I like plenty of BioWare characters that others are 'eh' about.

And I just love the dwarves in general, really. I thought the dwarven origin stories were by far the most interesting. (Plus I find the height difference adorable...)

Dragon Age was what helped me discover that my little brother was really into dwarves. I didn't realize it before, but he got super into the dwarf origins and he told me that was part of the reason why. and I definitely agree that both of the origins for them are really awesome.

Honestly, I'm a little bummed that the Human Noble origin is the most popular one, since that one feels so..."typical."

Awww, that's cute! I love sharing things with siblings; it's so rarely happens to me now. Did you guys bond over the game?

It is a little predictable, yea. I did find it decent, but wasn't impressed by it. That said, I'd settle for more people who played as dwarves period, but I think something like 5% did? What a sad number...

No, we didn't really bond over the game--although he was the one that convinced me to give it a try. The advertisements had put me off from the first game, since I got the impression that it was some sort of hack 'n slash.

The origin I started off with (which is probably my favorite) was City Elf, which also got maybe...3% of players playing it. I think everyone just went for the humans. :(

Ooh, how neat! (The brother thing, not the lack of interest.) I was put off by the commercials and previews too. I love dragons and the setting looked awesome, so idk what it was, but the f/f and m/m romances were what made me buy the game. Funny thing is I quickly put off my Zevran romance playthrough to romance Alistair as a dwarf...

Even less for elves?! I never would've expected that... People love elves. Huh... Wth. The elf origin (can't remember which one, now) was the first I did too, but I ended up playing through as a dwarf before coming back and finishing it. It was lots of fun too though.

Well, that's just City Elf. I think combined with the Dalish Elf and Elven Mage it's much higher...actually, I'm gonna Google.

Okay, that took forever, but I finally found something. "It's probably worth mentioning that elves were only played by 15% (or less? I don't remember the exact number) of DAO players... as in ever. Meaning only 15% even tried the elven origins on one of their playthroughs."

[...] "Elven mage was the most popular elf origin, by far. Then the city elf, then the dalish. Don't remember the distribution, sorry, just that city elf and dalish were both well behind. All I remember is the dwarf origins: 3% for the dwarven nobles, 2% for the dwarf commoner."

So if I'm getting this right, the distribution was something like 80% played one of the human origins, 15% played the elf origins, and 5% played the dwarven origins. Which is why we're stuck playing humans in Dragon Age games from now on.

Of course, this is only those people who were connected to the internet and didn't disallow telemetry data, but...I doubt they're all dwarf lovers or something.

Whaaat?... D: Those numbers are wrong in so many ways. If we only get to play as humans from now on (not that I dislike humans, of course. I'm used to being one)... That's no fun. Whatever happened to variety?!

Yeah, I don't know. :\ It really irritates me. (That being said, when I read further in the forum it sounded like Gaider was trying to emphasize that he wasn't necessarily saying we won't ever get to choose our race again, just that the numbers show that humans were always the most popular.)
