Yeah, that woman is full of unwanted republican surprises

Young republicans are increasingly cool with gay people, including gay marriage.

Someday we'll just be arguing over economic issues. Hopefully.

I wish they'd just become libertarians then :O

I've never met a libertarian that was better than most repubs regarding queer people, because even if they don't outwardly HATE us, they're still not interested in giving us any protections and/or want to leave most of our civil rights up to the states anyway.

That makes me really sad, anon.

Nice to meet you, I suppose? I def think gay marriage should be legal in all states. Though if it were really up to me, I'd just abolish marriage as a state function anyway.

Except that there wasn't a libertarian candidate - or at least, not one well known enough to have made a difference.

Also, there *is* such a thing as log cabin republicans and they've been around for a long time.

Ted Olsen maybe, after the trials over. Though he probably won't run.

There was definitely a candidate (I voted for him). But yeah, not well-known enough to make a difference. I really hope that will change in the future, though. I got so tired of trying to decide which side annoyed me more so I just went straight to the one that at least somewhat aligned with my general beliefs. And I hate the stinkin' two-party system.

Maybe I'm just too young and optimistic...

Good for you. It's the young who make a difference. And there can be no change without action.

IIRC Ron Paul was pretty libertarian. That was actually why he lost the GOP vote - he was too "liberal" on things like marijuana legalization. He didn't actually support it, he just didn't believe it should be criminalized, either, but this sort of perception extended to most of his social stances.
