I'm okay with this. Although I'd rather it be for NPCs, so I don't have to listen to people bitch that their OTP isn't getting the attention that the PC/party member is getting.

That said, Morrigan and Alistair hate each other. Not in a sexy way. They just hate each other. Thinking they ought to actually be together is ignoring what makes each character unique. Similar to Anders and Fenris--they hate each other. Anders even happily agrees to sending Fenris off to be enslaved.

If that's your fantasy, fine. But I dread the kind of nasty fans we'd see borne out of matchmaking. "I want to hook up THIS character, waah!" "I can't believe it's actually possible to hook up my SWEET SEXY love interest WITH THAT WHORE" etc.

Ugh. BioWare fans.

The best kind of sex is hate sex.

And they can have sex in canon, technically, you know. :P

That said, Morrigan and Alistair hate each other. Not in a sexy way.

That crossed my mind as well, but people can and will ship what they want (and should!) so I wasn't even going to bring it up. That said, that particular pairing hurts my brain. (As does Anders/Fenris.)

And I know they can have sex, but that doesn't mean they love or even like each other.

While I don't have as much of an issue with Alistair and Morrigan, mainly because Morrigan is a bitch to everyone until you get to know her better, the pure and utter hatred between Anders and Fenris makes it impossible for me to ever get on board with that ship. It's not just snarky, love-to-hate-each-ther hate, they actually loathe each other and would happily see the other dead (which, of course, can totally happen too).

That said, I wouldn't mind being able to pair off other characters as the PC. One of my favourite things about DA2 is the fact that Isabella and Fenris will get together in act 3 if you haven't romanced either of them.
