Dude, that would be AWESOME. One of my favorite things in a game ever is the Anju/Kafei quest in Majora's Mask, after all. And one of the best quests in DA2 was setting up Aveline with her hubby. I'M ON BOARD. LET ME DO THIS MORE, GAME DEVS.

Although I'd probably also want to romance someone in my party, too.

So yeah, I agree setting up romance can be fantastic.

Anju/Kafei was my favorite quest! They even did the same thing of hooking up side characters in Skyward Sword hahaha.

Whenever I play Majora's Mask and go to finish the game, I have to reset from day one and do their quest, so I know they'll have a happy ending afterwards. Sure, I try to do as many things in that time as possible to make sure everyone's happy, but theirs is a must.

Hell yes. YES. Please have this happen, people-who-make-videogames.

I mean, I can't see any reason for it NOT to happen. It's IMO even more interesting and involved and game-like than a romancing plot, and I think it gives you much of the same things in terms of player enjoyment and satisfaction - people will get the same enjoyment from matchmaking that they would from romancing. Also it would be really fun. If you had a wide cast of interesting characters and pretty free reign in terms of how to matchmake.

In fact, to hell with the "subplot" thing, just make this a game. Interesting setting, some kind of outside plot to drive things along, and I'd sure as hell play it.

I've always wanted to do this! I don't want it more than romancing my own character with someone (sorry NPCs, I just really enjoy romancing people...), but it would be a great addition imo. Carver/Merrill almost happened in DA2, right? I really wanted to be able to set them up. And despite sorta wanting to romance her, I was incredibly pleased with Aveline's storyline. This type of thing could be a ton of fun and very fulfilling if done right, but idk if it'll ever happen...

Ditto. I love romance plots (playing a game that's mostly the romance plot right now), but it'd be great to be able to set up the ones you're not angling for yourself.

I'm okay with this. Although I'd rather it be for NPCs, so I don't have to listen to people bitch that their OTP isn't getting the attention that the PC/party member is getting.

That said, Morrigan and Alistair hate each other. Not in a sexy way. They just hate each other. Thinking they ought to actually be together is ignoring what makes each character unique. Similar to Anders and Fenris--they hate each other. Anders even happily agrees to sending Fenris off to be enslaved.

If that's your fantasy, fine. But I dread the kind of nasty fans we'd see borne out of matchmaking. "I want to hook up THIS character, waah!" "I can't believe it's actually possible to hook up my SWEET SEXY love interest WITH THAT WHORE" etc.

Ugh. BioWare fans.

Yes. That would be fantastic. For example, think of ME3, remember how everyone was pissed off about Garrus and Tali getting together? What if they made it an option for Shepard to help it along? I think it would come less out of nowhere that way and the sense of accomplishment would help endear people to the ship.

Crap, now I really want this. I normally feel too weird/self conscious to romance the PC with anyone, but I'd be all for more IC-shipping and matchmaking! I ship party members more frequently than main character/person I find hot.

Assassin's Creed 3 has a totally adorable string of sidequests where you match up a couple of the people on your homestead. Double adorable because Connor is so, so bad at it.

Does Fire Emblem count as a matchmaking series?
