Re: Fictional deaths/distresses
Dr Erskine in the Captain America film. He was my most favorite character (next to Steve) and it just . . . augh. All my Erskine feels. Gosh, I wish there was more fic of him pre-film, especially with him and Peggy and Howard.
Henry Blake in M*A*S*H. Doubly so since my head canon for the second-to-last scene in that episode is that Radar has a premonition that something awful is going to happen to Henry but he can't do anything to stop it. Ouch.
Hughes in Full Metal Alchemist and Jiraiya in Naruto are pretty much tied. They were major turning points in their respective series and really surprised me, thus adding to the 'right in the feels' aspect.
Lee Scoresby in His Dark Materials. I very clearly remember crying at this, even more than all the deaths in Harry Potter. And then when Serafina and Iorek find him? Gah. Dang it, Pullman!

But, seriously: yes, those two. I'd forgotten, but I cried during the FMA episode and then I just missed Erskine for, like, the entire movie.
