Severus Snape's death upset me greatly, but his character 'development' in book 7 destroyed my love for HP. I had to put book 7 down and stop for a while. I was shaking from a mixture of rage, anger, and disgust.

Instead of a character who was seeking redemption, because of misdeeds he was trying to atone for. Or trying to honor a life debt he owned an enemy. Or even just trying to do what was right. He saved Harry all those times for an unhealthy obsession he had with a woman who rejected him. Even when he went to Dumbledore he was still prepared to let her family die, as long as he got the girl.
