Female betas. You can put several in a 10 gallon tank, as long as you have hiding places. I would look around for a seller who has betas and willing to sell you a few sisters together to begin with. You must have more then two female betas in a tank together. Female betas will create a pecking order and so you need at least three. Or you could put a single male beta in there by himself.

You could do one of the schooling fish breeds tetras, mollies, danios, barbs, or guppies. They come in a wide range of colors.

I would suggest a couple angelfish. You have to watch what you put in with them though because of their fins. That and Angelfish will eat fish smaller then them.

Ghost shrimp or snails are also an option.
