9 out of 10 my ass. Try talking to the fanartists who DO care. I've found way more of them than the opposite.

I assume the opposite myself. Most people who use fanart in icons DON'T know fanartists. They just get fanart from 4chan and think it's coolies.

Try talking to some of those people moar.

I love how every "I HAVE AN ENTITLEMENT COMPLEX SO I WHINE AT ANYONE WHO DISAGREES WITH ME" comment to someone who argues against using fanart in icons...sounds exactly the same.

Japanese fanartists don't want their fanart used in icons. Iconists think it's their right to use fanart in icons, so they ignore the fanartists' wishes.

I fail to see how that is anything but an entitlement complex, honestly.
