9 out of 10 my ass. Try talking to the fanartists who DO care. I've found way more of them than the opposite.

I assume the opposite myself. Most people who use fanart in icons DON'T know fanartists. They just get fanart from 4chan and think it's coolies.

Try talking to some of those people moar.

17. I agree, but I also say "practically canon" about certain couples either in a joking manner or because I feel they have a lot of subtext and it wouldn't surprise me if they were. I know this gets people a lot of scoldings, but I still do it cause it's fun. :P

17. I do much the same and also agree with this secret. My friends and I joke all the time about how such-and-such a non-canon pairing is 'totally canon' just because we find it amusing to do so. It doesn't mean we actually believe it. I'm constantly doing this with my own favorite slash pairing, and it doesn't mean I actually think it is canon. But Hell if they don't have a bucketful of subtext.

I've never had my art used in an icon (that I know of), but I have had it used in a sig on Gaia as a background for a little Gaian ID some girl had. I discovered it COMPLETELY BY CHANCE, by the way. Nobody asked me about this, and when I PMed her to say "Hey I kinda drew that and can prove it" (Which she did (politely) ask me to do), she'd said that her friend knew she liked the character, apparently saved the image, and claimed she drew it.

Now, I may be naive and gullible for believing her, but she was really nice about it and also credited me when I said "You can keep it; I'd just appreciate some credit." So I gave her the benefit of the doubt.

WITH THAT SAID.

Just because you found it completely 100% flattering doesn't mean that everyone will. I'll admit it. Sure, I was flattered. But at the same time, it's the principle of the thing, and also that someone not only took my art, but claimed to have been the artist. And that's why I dislike it when people use uncredited fanart in their icons.

3. I'm a rabid yaoi/slash fangirl, but I got lucky in that I'm in fandoms where none of the yaoi fans actually hate on the female characters that "get in the way."

Now, granted, it might just be because I'm a pretty small-time fanartist, but both of the times it happened to me I was super-excited, and the makers of the icons credited it the moment I asked them. Of course, this sort of thing happening on a regular basis with ungrateful iconmakers would probably get really old really fast, but for the moment, I'll be basking in the glow of omgpeoplearepayingattentiontome!1!

Not that I don't love compiling lists of reasons I ship my incredibly non-canon pairings, but every time I see someone saying their OTP is canon, I can't help but think, "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means." There's nothing wrong with shipping a non-canon pairing, guys!

I KNOW WHO YOU ARE.

I hate, hate, HATE M-preg. And yet I voted yes! to Luke and Asch getting a baby, because it actually kinda made sense within the RPG.

And they made me like it, when I've laughed for hours at all the mpreg fics I've ever read (And really, I doubt anything at Avoria is to be taken 100% seriously. It's a world where people burp pink bubbles and the TMNT gang walk around and everyone thinks it's normal).

I'm sorry the ToA charas and the Mpreg made you lose interest in the game, cause I love them. But then you already know that.

I dunno what to say to the 'can't keep up with who's whom'.. I imagine people would get confused with Fye, Yuuy, real!Fye, little Kurogane, and older Kurogane as well. A lot of RPGs have multiple!versions of charas..
