They're not griping over people who say it should be canon, they're griping over people who say that it is.

^^; I more or less realized that after I looked at it again.

I fail to see how it should be considered a secret now, though. It's more like "This pisses me off and I'm going to put it on fandomsecrets because nobody else cares"? =\?

After accidentally getting into a fight with some people because I once said "Remus/Sirius isn't canon", I can see why they want to keep it secret. Some people really take this stuff too seriously.

Maybe I just don't get it because I distance myself from the more popular fandoms. I like Harry Potter but I could never put myself into its fandom. XD;

Is it ok if I butt in here to say that I agree w/ both of you?

After accidentally getting into a fight with some people because I once said "Remus/Sirius isn't canon", I can see why they want to keep it secret. Some people really take this stuff too seriously.

YES! I am so familiar with this. I really hate someone being rude to you for what you ship or don't ship and starting big fights about it, canon OR fanon.

Fanon is just as much a part of fandom as canon is. I still don't know why people go crazy over that.

Yes, again. Just... yes. Without fanon, there might not be any canon, because there would be no fans supporting/watching/buying/reading it, whatever "it" happens to be. Plus, wouldn't canon be incredibly boring without fanon?
