3. I agree one hundred percent. It always bothers me when female characters get all this hate for not good reason AT ALL. And then there's all those stupid-ass arguments, like 'they get in the way of teh ghei'

I think I love you, whoever you are!

[identity profile] icthyopook.livejournal.com 2007-08-20 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I love what you said about 3. 'they get in the way of teh ghei' lol. XD

It's sad how a lot of yaoi fangirls forget that most series actually have... A STORY? D: And uh... the characters are supposed to support said story. Most anime aren't meant to be men orgys of ghei awesome lolz. :/ And it'd suck if they were.

[identity profile] buddha-loves-me.livejournal.com 2007-08-20 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I totally agree. I mean, I like yaoi, too, but I'm also smart enough to realize that all the characters are important and that the main focus of the story isn't how character X is going to get into character Y's pants.

It also sucks when the crazy insane yaoi fans have a story when it's like the main girl finds out their gay and then goes OMG BATSHIT!INSANE, especially when said main girl is actually pretty sweet and wouldn't give a rat's ass about sexual orientation.

Rawr, fandom, you make me so angry sometimes. DX

[identity profile] icthyopook.livejournal.com 2007-08-20 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, the female character bashing really gets on my nerves. I like yaoi too (sometimes), but not to the ignorant point of hating the female characters just because they're "GETTING IN THE WAY" of x & y's GAY LOVE. :/

I think my main beef is with Tea/ Anzu bashers in the Yu Gi Oh fandom. They always make her out to be this evil twat trying to STEAL Yami Yuugi away from Yuugi. uhmwhat? D: She's not a bitch, she would never do that. She's like... the nicest person in the show, maybe besides Yuugi. She's TOO nice. XD

[identity profile] buddha-loves-me.livejournal.com 2007-08-20 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I think anybody who hates any character regardless just because they 'get in the way' of something that may or may not be there is just so obnoxious and annoying. I mean, I'm all for alternate pairings, because sometimes they're really well done, but don't bastardize the characters' personalities to bend to your own ideas for a fic.

That's how it is in a lot of fandoms. Somehow they'll take the nicest girl in the series and mnaker her into uber!bitch who either a) wants to steal half of the yaoi pairing or b) is somehow a homophobe who completely rejects the pairing, regardless of any earlier experiences and relationships (whether platonic or non-platonic)

[identity profile] icthyopook.livejournal.com 2007-08-20 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I completely agree. :/ And this sort of thing is why yaoi fangirls now have such a bad reputation. It's kind of sad, cuz not all girls who happen to like gay pairings are as stupid as the run of the mill obnoxious fangirl. :(

Also, love your Simba icon. XD

[identity profile] buddha-loves-me.livejournal.com 2007-08-20 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I know! Yaoi fangirl has such a negative ring to it nowadays. It's like everybody assumes that if you like yaoi then you're automatically a heterophobe and/or female hater.

It makes no sense, the female hate. The majority (if not all) yaoi fans are girls, and to hate females just because they're females and dare to have boobs is really, really stupid. =/

Thank you! I like your Peter Pan one, too. I'm such a sucker for Disney.

[identity profile] icthyopook.livejournal.com 2007-08-20 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly. D: Because I this I tend to avoid mentioning that I liek a lot of yaoi couples, jsut because I don't want to deal with the bad rap. :/

As for female hate: Often, the females in a series can be a million times cooler than the boys, but because the boys are cute, a lot of fans ignore this and just slash the two cute boys and bash the awesome girls. A strong character is a strong character, regardless of their sex. Why are so many blind to this?

And omg Disney. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT! Not like I make it obvious or anything. ;D I wanna work for them someday. 8D *animator in training*

[identity profile] buddha-loves-me.livejournal.com 2007-08-21 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
Me too. I mean, I'm fine in my own journal, because my FL knows I'm not a stupid female-basher, but I tend to avoid mentioning it in communities just because I don't need people rolling their eyes at me.

IAWTC. Strong characters are strong characters because of their personality, not because of their gender. D:<

Oooo, animator in training! That would be such a cool job!

[identity profile] icthyopook.livejournal.com 2007-08-21 01:35 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah! :D I decided a long time ago that I'd liek to enjoy my job in life; I lvoe drawing and I love cartoons... what could be better? :D

[identity profile] buddha-loves-me.livejournal.com 2007-08-21 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
Your icon is too adorable. ♥

I think it's really important to enjoy what you do for work! Hopefully you'll succeed and do really well! :D

[identity profile] icthyopook.livejournal.com 2007-08-21 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
Well thank you, to both! :D <3

It was cool talking with you! (:

[identity profile] buddha-loves-me.livejournal.com 2007-08-21 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
Likewise! :D

[identity profile] countesszephyr.livejournal.com 2007-08-21 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
:D I totally agree too. I mean, I write fanfiction sometimes...and even when it's yaoi, I write it because I like the dynamics between the two characters, and their personalities/interaction/pasts and things are interesting to me. Not because they're hawt gheys ;o; hah.

I skimmed through your convo with [livejournal.com profile] icthyopook and you just seem totally awesome, haha 8D

[identity profile] buddha-loves-me.livejournal.com 2007-08-21 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
Exactly. There's nothing more obnoxious than pairing two guys together just because they're guys, regardless of whether they've even spoken or not. I mean, it's another thing when they've got a bit of subtext, or the author can make it work, even.

I mean, I'll never be against a good yaoi pairing, but just because I like the occasional guy/guy doesn't mean I bash all female characters. =/

*blushes* Haha, you flatter me. ^^;;;
