I'll tell you honestly: I have not seen the incident you are referring to, if it did happen, because your previous comment sounds like you're not sure either. Was it something from her comic? Because right now I'm assuming it was something from her art journal, which is locked and I know for a fact she has zero-tolerance for seeing anything she posts there posted elsewhere, for practice or wallpaper showing-off or whatever.

Also to get back at your more original point, people who buy fanart really could care less if the artist knows about the canon or not. It sounds to me it's less about whether it's allowed and more if there's artistic integrity in a picture, and if paying off your bills survive entirely on making a good pull in, you better believe selling out to the mainstream is the easiest way to make a profit in Alley working.

Actually, I'm the starter of this little topic, and that last anon post wasn't mine. (Though I have to admit I was very amused by the last sentence, who ever posted that)

Yes. It bothers me that pictures like this have no integrity. My morals scream how wrong it is, so I guess because I wouldn't do it and am so against it, it bothers me when other people do it. I understand that people want/need to make money at Artist Alleys, but if it is really necessary for someone to get money from fanart prints, (sorry, time for me to sound like an ass) maybe they should GET A JOB. I'm an artist who regularly participates in Artist Alleys, but I know that I'm not going to make a living selling prints during various weekends during the year. No, I like to eat, so I have a different job. Sure, I'd love to live off of my work, but I know (At least at this point in time) I will not be able to support myself solely off of my art yet.

I guess it all comes down to a difference of morals.
