Not really, the fic I'm writing right now involves retcons left, right and centre. Stuff like Steve never died, or Tim and Kate work together when in canon, Tim left before Kate was introduced to the show. It's more like a canon-compliant AU.

Yeah I kept reading waiting for the "secret" part. Here I thought "try and tie the story in with the original canon" is pretty much what fanfic is.
