You need to talk to different Whovians. Not all of us are like that. (I'm in so many fandoms that I can't even think of where to start dropping in inside jokes. There's too many)

Not only that, but you should talk to those of us who were forced to be closeted fans of our favorite things for so many years that it's still a habit to keep those things quiet. We tend to be quietly excited about things, and don't shove it in your face, because we've been conditioned not to else we get punched for it. (or mocked incessantly, depending on what high school you went to, or what parents you had)

Why does OP need to talk to different Whovians? Why does OP need to talk to any Whovians at all if they don't want to watch Doctor Who?

/not the OP

Why should OP talk to *anyone* then, because OP won't know who is or is not a Whovian?

We don't have it stapled to our foreheads. We don't shove it in your face. If it comes up, we may have a laugh at whatever, and if OP doesn't get it or says "I don't watch the show" we'd probably say "Aw, you're missing out, but it's cool" and MOVE ON LIKE ADULTS.

But if OP says that they don't want to watch Doctor Who because Doctor Who fans keep pestereing OP to watch it, isn't telling OP that they NEED to talk to other Who fans still kinda pestering them about the show?

Um, no? It's called a figure of speech. They're not literally saying they need to talk to more Whovians, it means that it's a pity all the Whovians they've met are douchebags.

Like, when someone says "you need new friends", they don't mean you need to go out right now and get new friends, they mean your current friends are jerks.

I'd say that the OP needs to get over the whoppingly obvious bit of confirmation bias explicit in that claim.

Why does OP need to talk to any Whovians at all if they don't want to watch Doctor Who?

Because we're quite often in the same communities, and might want to chat about other things?
