Free Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim download for 360

[personal profile] elaminator 2012-12-11 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
So I had to replace my original model 360 with one of the shiny new ones. Does anyone want my downloadable Skyrim redemption code (obviously you need LIVE, but...)? Since I bought the game on amazon I have no need of it. The only people I could give it to already have it, don't want it, or would never use it, sooo I'm hoping someone here will be interested. If you private message me (would rather not give out my email) I'll PM you back with the code. (Well, to the first person to PM me I will. WISH I HAD MORE THAN ONE FOR YOU GUYS.)

And if you don't have a dreamwidth account, maybe make a sock one for this purpose?

Arghity argh argh argh. I've been looking for Skyrim for cheap all over the place (as a Christmas present for myself and my brother) but our only video game system is a PC. Argh. *headdesk*

On the other hand, whoever gets this is a lucky bastard.

Awww, I'm sorry. :/ I wish I could've given it to you! If I see Skyrim on sale for cheap again, I'll PM you?

Sounds like a deal. Right now I'm sitting on both Amazon and Steam, because I figure one of them will eventually have a Christmas/Holiday sale that will knock the price down to something I can afford. (Amazon already has it for ~40 bucks, but I'm a broke student and do not have that much money.) Ebay, while sales start cheap, usually ends up at around the same price range. The lack of an ability to simply buy a used game compounds the problem, too.

And yes, I know, parents, solutions, but eennnhhh. Buying things independently is important to me.

And way to have first world problems, self. I'll shut up now.

Thanks for keeping an eye out!

No problem! And Amazon might have it on sale closer to Christmas, yea. I got it there for $25 on Black Friday, and while I doubt they'll go that low again, maybe they'd do $30? I'm not sure. :/

I know, I felt really dumb for missing the Black Friday sale. But, eh, can't do anything about that now.

I think they're edging down from 40, but no, they probably won't go any further than half off. Luckily, I think the marketplace vendors might.

:( If you couldn't help it that's okay. Black Friday sales are a pain anyway tbh. Within three minutes Skyrim was sold out at that price (though it did go back on sale later in the day for the same price, so...why did I wake up at like 6 AM again?).

Maybe! We can only hope.

Speaking of, Bing Rewards is like the best thing ever. I'm 98% of the way to a $5 Amazon gift card for screwing around with their search engine for about a minute every day. So there's at least 5 bucks off Skyrim either way, heh heh. :D

:)

(Hmm. Still doing research on Skyrim instead of my paper but shh and numerous places I've found have a Russian version of Skyrim instead of an English version. They send you a Russian VPN so that the game will run, which is nice, and it's ~$26, which is even nicer, but this feels weirdly like piracy to me and I don't like to pirate stuff as a general rule, especially stuff as expensive as Skyrim. On the other hand, it's only 26 bucks. Hmm. Thoughts?)

(That was an awful long thing to put in parentheses after such a short message. Have another smiley face.)

Hehe, I don't mind!

I've never ordered a non-US version of a game though, so I'm not sure how that works or what kind of advice to offer. If you're sure it'll work on your computer than I guess that IS a good price, and I imagine if the game doesn't have english subtitles or an alternate voice track you might be able to download them. Probably can actually, with mods. (Not that I know much about mods mind you, because I'm more of a console gamer and don't often use them.) But...yea, whatever works best for you! I don't see it as pirating since you're still buying the game legitimately.

Been doing more research. Looks like it's all well and legal, plus under twenty bucks at the moment. The only difference is that to run it, I need a Russian VPN, which the website happily supplies. So all I need to do is get the approval of the Computer Guy of the House (my dad) and I'll be in business! (Well, Skyrim, anyway.)

I'll let you know how it goes later if you care.

Aha, cute. Yes you will be! And less than $20 is insanely cheap, so if you want to go that route its understandable.

And do tell me how it goes! I'd love to see a screencap of your character actually, once you make them! I love seeing other people's customizable characters.

As of now (after a minor snafu involving VPNs) the game is merrily downloading. With an hour to go. At 9 PM on a school night. Yeah, I think Skyrim will be a "tomorrow" kind of thing. But it works ahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

At least as far as I know.

....tempting ;) I've held off on Skyrim because I'm not interested in it at its full price, but I'd totally play it for free LOL

Sorry, I already gave the code away! :( Wish I had one for you too.

And it's definitely proving to be a fun game. I've already put in as many hours as one of my (unfinished) Fallout playthroughs.

I wasn't willing to play full price for it either since I knew a version with the DLC would eventually go on sale, but...I'm weak.

Awww, it's okay! It's Skyrim, so I knew there was a chance code wouldn't last ;)

I'm terribad at open world games (as my previous commets about Fallout 3 have shown), but Skyrim looks PRETTY and I'd definitely play a cheaper copy if one came out with the DLC.

Haha, I'm not the absolute best at them myself, but I've found Skyrim much easier than Fallout tbh. I think because of the level up system; it's simpler.

[personal profile] kyuusei 2012-12-11 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
....really? I love Fallout as much as it kicks my butt, but this gives me a little bit of hope for me in Skyrim after all. Well - that and a sale, anyway ;)

[personal profile] elaminator 2012-12-11 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
Hehe, well, just imo, but yeah! There are a ridiculous amount of quests in Skyrim, waaay more than Fallout, so getting overwhelmed can still happen, but as for actual game play? Yep, much easier. Also, though there are of course plenty of bugs, I've been remarkably lucky so far. I've had a couple of freezes and small bugs, but nothing that's stopped me from completing quests (even small ones). It's been a fun (mostly stress free) run so far.

[personal profile] kyuusei 2012-12-11 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
Pffft, who are we fooling - it wouldn't be a Bethesda-developed game without bugs ;) Whenever I get Skyrim, I will be sad to have missed out on the backwards-flying dragons.

Truer words have never been said.

Whenever I get Skyrim, I will be sad to have missed out on the backwards-flying dragons.

I won't, but only because I don't have LIVE and couldn't patch it. Otherwise, it sounds amusing as hell. (Though I suppose that's what youtube is for, right? :p)

Plus, when you kill a dragon the bones of the dragon will be left behind. If you fast travel to that location the dragon's bones will fall out of the sky and it'll appear that they're waving at you. Might've been fixed in a patch, though!
kyuusei: This is Iggy being adorable. Not that it's difficult. (Default)

[personal profile] kyuusei 2012-12-11 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
I know you don't have Gold, but you can't even get online with LIVE Silver (or whatever the free one is) to download patches? That's.... dumb. :(

Youtube is also great for seeing all the Skyrim mods we'll *never* get to do on 360. ( :( ) Like the My Little Pony one. XD

Okay that glitch sounds even better. Now I wonder who pays $60 for Skyrim just for the hilarious bugs alone...
elaminator: (Dead or Alive 5: Lei Fang)

[personal profile] elaminator 2012-12-11 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
I'm pretty sure you can use silver for that (if that's the free one), but that's not the issue. (I feel like a broken record for mentioning this again but) I have a usage limit on my internet and I don't have the highest speeds either, so I have to watch what I use it for. Idk if it could handle LIVE. I tried bringing my xbox to someone else's house once to download updates but we both failed at getting their internet to work with my 360 so I gave up. D:

I had heard of the My Little Pony one! I've never seen it though.. Now I might go look. I think there's a Star Wars one too? Oh modders!

The first time it happened I heard the bones falling but didn't realize what it was, turned around in fear to see the bones landing on the ground and the wings moving, glitching in and out of the ground. It killed me.
