If the playable character swears like a sailor, doesn't have obvious secondary sexual characters (breasts, namely), and dresses according to the profession (like a man), how will you know they're not female? I'm asking quite seriously, because there's nothing stopping you from assuming that all these playable characters are (1) females mistakenly being identified as male or (2) females who identify as male.

That's right. We're not kids anymore so we shouldn't be complaining about these kind of issues when there are more problematic themes/implications going on in these games.
