I never buy digital copies unless they're reasonably priced. If Amazon has the harcover or paperback for less than the Kindle version (which they almost always do), I get a pirated copy of the digital edition. The publishers control pricing on digital editions and the retailers control the prices on the hardcopy editions, so usually only the hardcopy editions are reasonably priced. The publishers need to understand that they aren't discouraging pirating, especially when they're response is to jack up the prices; they're encouraging it.
