When both of those things applied to me, I remember seeing 'watersports' in a lot of descriptions and thinking 'So what, they're having sex in the shower or something, why warn for that?'

Oh, goddess...I had that same reaction (well, I thought of swimming and waterskiing - you know, water sports - but same principle)...
