LJ troubles

(Anonymous) 2012-12-11 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, so I recently had my IP change and now every time I log into LJ they send me a "warning" that someone logged into my account from *gasp* my new IP! This has been happening for a week now and it's pissing me off. Is there a way to tell LJ that it's me?

Have you tried to contact support?

No, in the email they send every time it always has a bunch of links helping someone if they've been hacked or something. When they give me the support link it's specifically about "getting your account back" blah, blah, blah. I was just hoping for a switch or button where I could just say, "Nope, that's me!" But I guess that's too much to hope for.

Yikes. Yes, LJ support tends to be hit and miss at best.

I remember there being some way to get a "support ticket" so you get help through the website.

(Your question gets posted in the website and anyone can answer that.)

You could try that and explain that you changed IPs and want your account/the site to recognize this new IP as yours and how to do that please.

Eh, I just fucking figured it out. There's nothing I can do.

They said, "The new suspicious login notification feature (announced here) is triggering emails for normal login activity for many users. The settings for this feature are being reviewed and will be adjusted to help reduce the number of circumstances under which this happens."

And then had a link to here: http://lj-releases.livejournal.com/80369.html

So apparently I just get to live with it until they figure they should fix it.

Something similar happened to me once when I logged onto my Google account from a school computer. Surprisingly, it only happened once, but for a week or two after I kept getting little red flag messages saying "Someone tried to log on from a strange location!"
