Not that so much as they wanted her to look closer in age to Renly, probably. Of course, Renly without the second-season beard looked younger, so if they'd not changed his look...

The age gaps looming in the horizon for her (I'm being nice here and trying to spoil as little as possible) are less relevant because sexual scenes won't be happening.
