Re: What was the meanest thing someone has ever said to you, FS?
(Anonymous) 2012-12-11 04:25 am (UTC)(link)is this a person you know? or something that just "happens" where you live? I hope you can get away from this
Re: What was the meanest thing someone has ever said to you, FS?
Ramble ahead, so I apologize in advance:
Fortunately, he is not anyone I could consider a friend or even an acquaintance. He was a tattoo artist who kept absurdly late hours at his parlor, and one of my friends who was moving away made a last minute decision to get another tattoo. I can't even recall how we all even got on the subject, but conversation turned to how we'd run the world if we could. His consisted of very disgusting viewpoints he held of women, and of what he'd expect them to do for him. This led to me making a snide comment at him about my sexual orientation and primary preference for women, and that's when he got upset with me and made his threat.
I was dumbstruck at him, as was my friend. Neither of us spoke after that. He continued on, listing all the differences between men and women and how ultimately, women need men.
I found out shortly after that incident that he was notorious for inappropriate conduct towards women and men who went to his parlor - be it gross statements to even touching customers in ways he shouldn't when tattooing them.
I'd say that this incident was the worst I've yet had to deal with, as far as my queerness is concerned. I've generally been in the fortunate position of having supportive friends and family, which is why I think that what he said alarmed me so much? Like, I know such situations are sadly not unheard of for those of us on the lgbt spectrum, but I had never encountered something like that in real life until then. It was just so strange to me that someone would react like that, much less even threaten me for it.

I hope he's divorced and miserable now.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-11 06:47 am (UTC)(link)I'm glad you and your friend got out of there safely and that you have your friends and family guarding your back.
Yeah, I get what you mean. Accounts of those kinds of incidents sound surreal, like something that simply has no place in real life. They shouldn't happen and it disgusts me that they still do. :(
