Moreover, I just don't get why they have to say she was lesbian. I mean: there are people who likes both types of genitals.

Well, it was a plot point. Tara was angsting about whether it was just a "phase" for her.

Yeah, but bisexuality is not a phase. And call her "lesbian" is erase what she felt for Xander and Oz.

BTW, I don't even remember that scene. I always felt like Willow's love interest (Oz, Tara, Kennedy) were there just to prop Willow. They were by far more interesting to me when they interacted with other characters (I love every Tara/Buffy scene I got).

You make very good points.

Do you know that it came down to a metaphorical coin flip on who was going to be gay, Willow or Xander? Xander gets alluded to a lot, like with Larry, and mentioning how attractive Spike is, the sex with Faith. I can't remember any Willow moments where she comments on the attractiveness levels of the resident badass female (like Druscilla, or Faith). I always wanted to think that Willow was Tara-sexual... but then

... Kennedy... and snake lady... and... *sigh*

(Anonymous) 2012-12-12 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I... I really hope the coin thing is a rumor. Really.

But if it isn't, first: couldn't have they include other characters (Buffy/Faith shipper here, sort of)? And second: in this case, I don't know how I'd feel about Xander being the gay one. OTOH, it would've been SO stereotipical... OTOH, I always found his behavior with women insulting.

I don't mind Willow liking more women, but I really disliked it was writing as lesbianism and not bisexuality.
