If we're talking about Steve during that scene in Avengers, he kind of looked like he was about to cry the entire time for some weird reason

I think that was because he knew he was killing brainwashed minions.

No, that makes total sense. I wasn't meaning to imply that Steve weeps whenever he's handling a gun or something (that's certainly not the case- he's a soldier), just that the scene in the film with it wasn't really played as sexy so people are not as likely to walk away from it going "ooh gun kink."

I thought it was pretty clear they were enemies of SHIELD and not brainwashed minions? Only Selvig and Barton were confirmed as brainwashed/controlled by the scepter.
