Wait wait, the fans and artists don't acknowledge the creepy factors? Because I thought it was all out in the open "this is a messed up relationship, but fun porn!" and everyone knew it but went along with it because they liked creepy messed up relationships.

i haven't read the comic nor am i familiar with the fandom, but if i were to hazard a guess, i'll say it reminds me of anime-yaoi porn fandom: tons of rape, sexism, and all sorts of terrible stuff, and most of the fans are either too young or clueless enough to realize how creepy it actually is or just don't give a fuck

i have the feeling this happens in western yaoi comics/doujinshi too, from what very little i've seen when my curiosity has overcome my common sense
