For me, it's weird and sometimes unpleasant to watch because, while my high school was like that, I was DEFINITELY not a part of any of it.

Ah, so I guess the alienation of the subject reaches even further.

You know, I have to wonder in times like these, are fictional high schools simply a mere imitations of current high schools or do they perpetuate at all the toxic atmosphere by teaching younger kids that this is how high school is? I'm not talking about Mean Girls in particular, just generic TV shows that take place in high schools that use a similar style.
