Um, OP? You do realize that:

1. A degree is not a sign of particular intelligence, and a lack of a degree is not a sign of lacking intelligence, right?

2. Working in retail doesn't mean you don't have a degree, or even that you're not attending school to *get* a degree

3. Just because someone's job isn't glamorous, or they aren't well known doesn't mean they aren't effecting life in their city - and really, even if someone only has a strong impact on one other person, then I can't say I'd considering them unimportant.
