IDK what you're talking about OP. The Dean/Cas fans on Tumblr are almost nauseating in their happiness over, well, everything.

Seriously. I recently went over to the dark side (Tumblr) and was astonished at just how freaking happy the Dean/Cas fans are over there. They LOVE the show and are pretty positive in general, it seems.

(And echoing what everyone else has said - more than just today, but a million times- about SPN fandom not being that bad. I've been in it for two years and have yet to become involved in any wank, mostly because I avoid it like the plague - and in the past two years have had no problem doing so.)

Haha, Tumblr is like the land of opposites, I swear. Anytime I get sick of bitching, I just go to Tumblr to bask in gif sets and stupid fandom in-jokes. I bitch a lot myself, but sometimes I just want to watch Jared dance badly or talk about Dean's panty fetish.

(I think the badness of the fandom depends on where you hang out. The really, really batshit people all tend to concentrate in certain places *coughspngossipcough* and are pretty easy to avoid, once you know what to look out for. All the people I follow and know in the fandom are generally pretty rad.)

Basically. It's pretty easy to spot wank-baiting when you see it - anything involving one ship being better than the other, basically - so yeah.

I mean, I will admit that sometimes I seek out the wank just when I need a good LOL. But I honestly haven't ever gotten involved in a flame war or anything of the sort. It makes me sad that SPN fandom has such a crappy reputation :(

Yeah, if you stay out of the tags and learn the names of the people who are always stirring up wank to block and avoid, it's pretty easy to avoid. A lot of the wank is by people who create journals solely for that purpose, too, so I never take it that seriously.

Haha, I do that too sometimes. Mostly I avoid it, but every so often I just need to read it and laugh. It also helps remind me that I'm not crazy. It bugs me that it has such a shitty reputation, too. There's plenty of crazy, but seriously, the VAST majority of people think spn_gossip is a festering cesspool, and just because some of the people who are really wanky about ships and hating certain characters and what not, that doesn't mean that all or even most of the fandom is that way.

Oooo okay this explains it. I've only encountered SPN through people I was following on tumblr who were getting all cute and excited about season 8. I'm shipping dean/cas entirely because of gifsets. It's lots of fun :)

It IS a lot of fun! Although there do seem to be a lot of people over there who ship it solely based on gif's and whatnot. I'd encourage you to watch the show - trust me, it only gets better :)

(And if you decide to get more into fandom, stay far, far away from spn gossip. I'd stick to tumblr for happy-times lol.)
