maybe they have more wank, but i haven't seen a fandom that had such a complete lack of boundaries for actors and people involved with the show. there are so many horror stories, the amount of harassment they (and their families) get is what i think makes them the worst :/

From what I've heard, Merlin gets close.

[personal profile] rivia 2012-12-18 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
yeah i'm not really involved/pay any attention to merlin much anymore, so that might be why i hadn't heard anything about that. i wouldn't be very surprised though.

Teen Wolf is getting there, considering some fans broke into one of the actor's houses a few months back. I think in both cases, part of the reason is that the actors are all pretty accessible to the fandom, and some people assume that a celeb tweeting you or having a photo op with you means they're you're BFF. And just... no. They're awesome to talk to and interact with fans, but they are not your friends and their personal lives are really not your business. Stop being creepy assholes. :|

omfg what i hadn't heard that D: who's house was it that was broken into?

yeah i agree that's definitely part of it. plus the bubble effect that fandom has where people just forget that some stuff just isn't okay. like the fan who wanted someone to sign some slash fanart (that they didn't even draw) at a convention. or the person i used to be friends with on lj who was debating pics she got from hacking (or knowing somebody who did) an actor's close friends facebook, and so on. some people just seem to lose all ability to tell what's crossing a line, they're the ones who are just embarrassing.

Stephen Lunsford (the dude who played Matt). Also, some creepy girl got his phone number and was pretending to be Colton to try and get him to come over? SO SKEEVY.

It's so true! Luckily, I do usually see people who will step up and be like "NO, WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU. STAHP." when people pull shit like that, but guys... seriously. How would you react if someone was like "HERE SIGN THIS PICTURE OF ART OF YOU NAKED WITH YOUR CO-WORKER." Most of the actors are good about having a sense of humor about things, but you can take them too far. Like the people who were talking about asking Hoechlin in a panel sometime about whether or not Derek has a knot on his dick. Ugh, people. *facepalms*

Like the people who were talking about asking Hoechlin in a panel sometime about whether or not Derek has a knot on his dick

what is this I don't even D:

(Anonymous) 2012-12-18 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
THAT WAS MY EXACT REACTION. There was a post on Tumblr and someone was like "HAHA I'M GOING TO DO THIS" and a bunch of other people going "OMG SO FUNNY. I WANT TO SEE HIS REACTION!" IN WHAT WORLD IS IT OKAY TO ASK AN ACTOR ABOUT HIS DICK (yeah, it's his character but he plays that character so it's his dick, too)?! Luckily there were a lot of people also going "WTF is wrong with you?!", too.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-18 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
That's happened in other fandoms. I think the most famous example I've heard of was in the LotR fandom. Not that it makes it OK. It is DEFINITELY NOT OK. But it's not like Teen Wolf fans are the first to ever pull this kind of stuff.

When I was in SGA fandom I remember hearing about some fan that stalked Joe Flanigan and found his house - I think he ended up moving because of it.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-18 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
Oh no, they're definitely not alone in that. I just always feel the need to bring this stuff up, because I've seen so many people go on and on about how nice and reasonable Teen Wolf fandom is and... it's really not. It's got just as much wank as most other fandoms its size.

I was never into SGA, but ugh, that is creepy. I do not understand what goes through people's heads when they pull shit like that.

ohhh i had a feeling it'd be stephen because he definitely seems to be the most interactive of the cast (i follow him on tumblr, he cosplays, ugh i love it) but oh god D:

oh good god noooo i really don't blame tyler h. for pulling away from twitter/etc for a while, that's just... i hatehatehate how fandom has become such a known thing now, WHY CAn'T WE JUST GO BACK IN THE DARKNESS OF OUR BLANKET CAVES and never have to be acknowledged by the show/crew everrrrr

(Anonymous) 2012-12-18 10:14 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I totally love actors that love interacting with fandom like that, but at the same time I always just want to whisk them away and hide them in a cave for their own good, or just run around them flailing my arms and screaming, "Danger, Will Robinson!" And as great as interaction can be, sometimes I totally want the power to send fandom back into the shadows, too. Or at least banish certain fans from the Internet until they learn to understand boundaries.

Ugh, seriously. The people who kept tweeting him shit about having sex with Dylan on his birthday... I just do not know wtf is wrong with people sometimes.

"debating pics she got from hacking (or knowing somebody who did) an actor's close friends facebook"

Was that the Hiddleston one? I hope there weren't two incidents of this kind of asshattery.

Sounds a lot like the Hiddleston one to me and some of his fans are... WOW. O_O They aren't just after him, they'll go after his co-stars to get to him.

Actually, no, this was years ago, and it was one of Jensen Ackles' friends. All of those examples I gave were SPN fandom at its' very best.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-18 10:09 am (UTC)(link)
Shit like this is why it always makes me go "Really, guys?!" whenever anyone wants to comment on how they think Jensen is stuck up. I think the guy is pretty fucking awesome to still be coming to conventions considering some of the crazy, inappropriate shit that fans have pulled on him.
rivia: (-_-)

[personal profile] rivia 2012-12-18 10:24 am (UTC)(link)
heh, yeah. he's had to put up with the most shit of anyone of the cast, it's just sad how he seems to attract it :/ i can relate to that too, i'm rather reserved as well irl, just because i'm not bouncing around and being crazy doesn't mean i'm stuck up.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-18 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
It's getting fucking embarrassing to follow some parts of this fandom. There's this compulsive need to name every single project as "Sterek", even though they could easily include all of the fandom with simple "Teen Wolf". Like this help the wolves thing that's going on. It would be a great idea, but I'm not going to touch it with a stick.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-18 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
Holy shit thiiiiiis. I actually was really excited at the idea of sending cookies to the cast and about the charity auction, but both times they've been attached to the fucking Sterek campaign B.S. Everyone is a fan of the show Teen Wolf, but NOT everyone is a fan of the pairing Sterek. It would make more sense to go with the label that's more inclusive (and actually the name of the show), no?

(Anonymous) 2012-12-18 02:59 am (UTC)(link)
YES, thank you. If people really feel the need to lobby for that pairing, they can do it without making the pairing the focal point of every single thing.
