Pretty sure the award for the worst fandom goes to the Sherlock fans, if only because the Supernatural fans stick to their own fandom while the Sherlock fans hijack posts from other fandoms ALL THE TIME to turn them into some crossover bullshit. But the Supernatural fandom is pretty unpleasant too.

The worst thing you have to say about Sherlock fandom is that they make too many crossovers?

But there are so many worse things though. . .

Rampant unchecked sexism, an overdose of omegaverse, the kink meme being filled to the brink with assholes and ooc prompts, tormenting the Elementary fandom before it even grew legs, fetishization of gay people, tired memes that are three years old and no longer funny, and excusal whenever the creators/actors are prejudiced dicks. None of that made your list?

Don't get me wrong, there are some really very lovely people in that fandom, but it has major issues beyond making a few too many crossovers.

Omegaverse is pretty rampant in most of the major fandoms with active kink memes right now. Not arguing any of your points, though. There is a lot of fuckery in the Sherlock fandom that's worse than crossovers. Although it is annoying when they constantly hijack posts/discussions in other fandoms.

Omegaverse is mainly rampant in other fandoms because Sherlock and SPN fandom infected them :P

*sigh*

Kind of a bummer because being in that fandom used to be a lot of fun but now it's so wanky and full of fuckery.

I can't disagree with you there, lol. Sherlock and SPN are the Typhoid Mary fandoms when it comes to omegaverse. I actually do enjoy the occasional omegaverse fic here or there, but even then I'm still like, "Hey can we please write something different? Not everything ever needs to be omegaverse, jfc." I feel bad for the people who loathe it with all their being and can't enjoy any of it, because the kink memes have to suck something awful for them right about now. Well... not that most of the kink memes aren't kind of full of crap and wank atm, but still.

Maybe things will cycle back around and some of the wank will die down? It's not totally likely, but you never know...

TYPHOID MARY FANDOMS.

Hello new favorite anon.

I loathe it :P Plus I've seen loads of other, unrelated fuckery on the Sherlock kinkmeme just related to people being enormous entitled assholes so I'm just like 'well screw you guys then :/'

I'll probably participate in it more when series 3 finally comes along, because there really are some good people in it as well as some holy cow awesome fanworks, but right now I'm actually very happy participating mainly in Community fandom as well as skirting the edges of some other tiny fandoms so it's all good :)

*waves* Glad to be of service!

I can totally understand why people loathe it, lol. I've seen some interesting stuff done with it when the author goes into politics or comes at it from a different angle or even explores gender roles (although holy shit, that is sometimes done SO BADLY that it is painful), but mostly it's just an excuse for porn involving self-lubricating buttholes and ass babies and dog penises and what have you. And a lot of said porn is also kind of terribly written on top of that. Which can be kind of okay if you're into that kind of thing or even if you just like reading terrible porn for fun (I am guilty of this), but a lot of the kinks it caters to tend to be the ones that a lot of people want to nuke off the face of the planet, haha.

I haven't actually spent much time on the Sherlock meme, but the entitled asshole thing seems to be making the rounds of late. It always baffles me when people feel the need to act like jerks on kink memes. It's an anon meme to request porn, guys. Just chill the fuck out and stop taking it so seriously and just ignore the prompts and fills that you don't like. I promise you it will be a lot more fun that way.

I'm glad you have other fandoms to hang in (and really, Community is a great choice because that show is freaking awesome)! I agree about the fanworks in Sherlock fandom, too. The fanart in that fandom is amaaaaaaazing. It makes me want to find ways to lure artists from Sherlock fandom into some of the tinier fandoms I lurk in. Unfortunately the whole prop a box up with a stick and put something shiny underneath it thing doesn't really work online, so I can't really trap people and force them to watch shows and read books or what have you, and I have yet to perfect other methods. One day, though.

OP of this thread. I didn't mean that this was the worst thing about them, but the one that bothers me most as someone who isn't part of the Sherlock fandom. If I want to avoid SPN fans, I stay out of SPN fandom. If I want to avoid Sherlock fans ... well, it's pretty much impossible to do that.
