I am disturbingly early to this post. I've never gotten here before 200ish comments or so and I've never been first. LOL

We got a fuckton of snow this morning where I live, which turned to hail as I got to work. Half-hour commute turned to 2 hours because my city CAN'T DEAL WITH SNOW EVER, then I stayed late. Joy. (But at least I'm home and not wearing wet socks anymore?)

So how was your day F!S?

Sunny, rainy and atypical.

I'm surprised that I'm here this early as well. When I had read the secrets and scrolled down to the comments, there was only one comment (before I refreshed the page, of course).

My day was boring and uneventful.

The last bit snow we had here melted away today. My city isn't too good in dealing with snow either, especially public transport. It's become a bit of a joke by now (two snowflakes? Oh no, that means each train will be delayed by at least 20 minutes!). I still wish the snow hadn't melted away yet, it does always look rather pretty.

Yeah, my bus ride of 20 minutes turned into an hour+, then I got off two stops early and walked the rest of the way because it was faster than sitting in a gridlock. The trains, surprisingly were running like normal - usually they're delayed as fuck too.

I kind of miss living in a city that's used to snow, but it's much colder there.

We don't get snow here. But it was really coldy and windy all morning.

I went Christmas shopping. Got some jazz CDs for my dad. Couple books for my mother. DVD for my brother.

We just reorganized our department at work, so my cube got moved over he weekend. Somehow this killed my hard drive, and I spent pretty much the entirety of 9 am to 2 pm reconfiguring my desktop and installing one program I need for my job. (something fucked up the registry in the initial install, so it took 3 people to fix it.)

now I'm catching up on the work I need to get done before tomorrow. It'll be a long night, but once that's done, things should be quiet until the holidays.

Harddrives are actually pretty flimsy things. A bad jolt while it is spinning or a surge in electricity can kill it.

I found out, after owning this printer for years, it can actually scans documents through a feeder.
I only tried seeing if it could when I learned you could do that with printers at the office I intern at.

That was basically the highlight of my day.

Finding these little things out can be so very rewarding. A few months ago, I was thrilled to learn that if I type with my fingenails, the very worn-out touchscreen on the office printer will do exactly as I want instead of deciding by itself that I wanted to press an entirely different button or print 99 copies of something :D

lol, I love this kind of thing. Usually I feel like an idiot for not figuring it out earlier at first, and then all excited that HEY, I LEARNED SOMETHING NEW!

I'm here early because lj is down. I had a shitty morning. I work from home most of the time, so I keep weird hours- getting up at 10 and going to bed at 2ish. Today I had a neurologist appointment at 8:15 am for a check-up on my chronic illness. Not getting enough sleep often gives me migraine. :( I did get a headache and was a little noise sensitive, ugh. I just got up and went straight there so I would get as much sleep as possible. Then I went to an excellent local coffee shop/restaurant and got breakfast. Which was good (bacon and eggs and hashbrowns), although they brought me the wrong kind of eggs at first.

The guy in the booth behind me had clearly also just come from the medical center because he made around 5 phone calls all relaying the same information about his stitches and his catheter! Including to his hard-of-hearing mother, to whom he repeated things multiple times and shouted. Man, how hard is it to make your calls outside?! Dude was putting me off my food.

Then I went home and back to sleep for another hour or so. I'm still not feeling 100%. At least my boss got back to me today after I was waiting over 2 weeks as to my next assignment. I don't have the energy to read it today, but at least I know they do want me to work on their next project. I'd been stressing about it for weeks.

Usually I'm not active enough to be bothered when LJ goes down, but I was in an interesting discussion post for my fandom. Damnit!

I hope you feel better. :( I haven't had very many migraines. I also really, really hate people who insist on having really loud phone convos in restaurants and such.

I've been dealing with a week long fever, so I spent today as I have all the others: huddled in bed with my cat.

At least I've been able to break in my new bed with all of this. My fever dreams have been entertaining, too.

AYRT - feel better! New beds are nice though, and sometimes fever dreams are the weirdest ones. :D

Mom has still not been taking my requests to see a doctor seriously and is harping on me about finding a job, when she knows I am sabotaging all my own attempts to find one because of how badly I hate myself. She also likes telling me she doesn't need help with (chores), then barking at me later for not helping her, which isn't helping me. My credit card debt is $500 more than I thought it was.

But now that I know what's up with my credit card debt, I can arrange for the money to pay the rest of it off. Mom and my bro took me to the thrift stores and the Asian grocery to go shopping with what little money I still had (some people buy clothes when they're down, I buy food and secondhand cookbooks). Mom's taking me to do some volunteer work at a library tomorrow morning, and then in the afternoon/evening I'll be visiting with a friend I haven't seen in a while to do more shopping, chat, dinner, and maybe see a movie.

In short, I had a rough start but it's ending on a good note.

ARE YOU READY FOR THIS, 'CAUSE IT'S GONNA BE BITCHY!

Someone called out, and my manager did not call for coverage, because she has avoidance issues. So there was slack! And it had to be picked up! And the schedule was such that there was shit in the form of not enough people working at certain times (e.g. one person working when there really should be two).

That would almost kind of be okay, EXCEPT. My manager gets flustered and freaks out. Even better is that when she gets flustered and freaks out, she projects it all onto someone else! When the story is told of today, she will claim that Somebody Else freaked out, and that all of her mistakes were caused by said person.

It was totally good times.

My day was pretty relaxed and laid-back, largely spent lounging in bed and doing my job via laptop...

Because yesterday was INCREDIBLE. I won two free tickets to see my favorite sports team play that night, off a contest on their official Twitter account. Except the team in question plays on the other side of the state, and I only got the notification that I'd won a whole 6 hours before the game started. And my girlfriend had the car and was going to be at work until an hour and a half before the game started.

So I emailed her frantically and she got out early and we drove across the state and watched the game from great seats, for FREE, in the arena that always makes me feel like the scene in The Wizard of Oz where Dorothy opens the door and suddenly everything's in bright color - I'd been watching games there on TV for 20 years before I actually got the chance to go see a game myself. And although my team lost, the drum line was set up in the lobby afterwards entertaining people, and they were smiling, and everyone watching them was smiling, and it was just a great time. Even the long drive there and back, the sore throat this morning from cheering, the grogginess from having gotten in so late... all totally worth it.

I really needed something like that to bust me out of the anxiety and general frustration with myself. I think I used up a few days worth of spoons on that unexpected trip, but I count it a genuine blessing rather than mere luck.

It's about 10:21 here in Malaysia and I am typing this from my bed with my laptop on my lap. Here's to a good day, everyone!

And can someone post a picture of snow from their neighborhood here? I've been kinda wondering about snow since I live in the tropics and all.

It was alright. I went to the registries today to book my license test appointment. I go in tomorrow at noon. I'm a pretty good and safe driver, I've been driving without a license for a good year, I'd say. Bad me, I know. I'm still a little nervous though. Mostly because if I'm in a vehicle with someone I know is judging the shit out of my driving skills, my focus suffers.

Baked some gingerbread today. My daughter woke from her nap feeling a bit sniffly.
Went to the store to get some of that menthol vapor bubble bath and few other things and came back home to find my fire alarms acting all wonky. No smoke at all just alarms being wonky.

Tried to fix it and gave my kid her bath. Husband fixed it though.

Today was better than my usual workday. I got home early (yeah, rolling in the door at 11:30 qualifies as "early" for me now X_X), I got paid a decent-sized check, and my box of presents from Mom got here! We've piled them under the tree. Santathulhu is keeping an eye on all of them.

Although we also just realized that, once my boyfriend's folks send his presents, our tree will be almost entirely buried by boxes. It's not a very big tree, hahahaha XD
