Actually, no, it's not weird to only dislike LotR. It's a matter of execution, and Tolkein could be wordy and those songs he kept putting in were a chore to read.

I thought we were talking about the movies, not the books? Either way, I agree with the idea that it's certainly possible to love fantasy/questy things and not like Lord of the Rings. Maybe they're too long, or the separation of the fellowship past the first one bothers people, or really, any number of resons.

agreed. just because someone likes fantasy doesn't mean they MUST love lotr. there are plenty of things one might like or dislike about something. it's up to personal taste.
