But I'm gonna say I agree with a few people above. I feel like I've said this a lot recently about a lot of different secrets. I'm starting to get tired of being reassuring.

What is it with kinds in fandoms today? They can't seem to grasp that someone has the complete right not to like something. The amount of vile, bullying, and general nasty word vomit I see directed at someone who just says "Eh it's not my thing." is kinda scary.

Fandoms are getting a bit...extreme.

I don't know. I've been in fandoms for a while but, I don't remember it ever being this bad. It seems the worst on Tumblr.

it must be hard to pass your douchebaggery litmus test. i see that sort of behavior from average people all the time, about the most innocuous things. ("everybody loves dish x! it was just badly cooked in all the 45678 times you've tried it!")

Not really. We're imagining two different things. I'm imagining people harassing the OP based on the tone I thought they were using and because such harassment is the exact sort of thing I see people in fandom doing.

I'm really not that big of a pretentious bitch, or at least I don't think I am. No one's ever called me out as being such. Though I suppose now that I've said that it will happen now.

the special edition dvd line reminded me of fans who beg you to give farscape or pushing daisies or whatever show they love and want you to love as well "just 10 more episodes!!" because "it gets great by the tail end of season 4, i promise!! really finds its legs!!!!1 if you don't like it, you haven't stuck with it long enough!!"
