so...what are we supposed to do? start the spanish inquisition to figure if the reason someone doesn't like a character fits in with our own morality? give them a questionnaire to fill out? "I can only be friends with you if you tell me the reasons why you don't like character XYZ."

I don't like the male lead in Burn Notice. He's fucking ass ugly. I don't give three shits if he's oscar material, he's fucking ugly. Does that make me shallow and only judge people by the way they look?

Fuck you, no it doesn't. It means that I'm basing WHAT I CONSUME FOR ENJOYMENT on aesthetically pleasing appearances. It says nothing else about me and I can goddamn assure you that if you're a friend and you start to fucking psychoanalyze me based on what I like in my television viewing? Then you can bet I don't want YOU as a fucking friend.

Then 3. It's OK to dislike someone for disliking a character.

And OK, you dislike him because he's ugly. Not because, say, he likes saving the world and you hate the world or something. (Idk, I know fuck all about Burn Notice, sorry.) THIS IS NOT A MORALLY DISPLEASING REASON. There is *nothing* in OP's secret that says that there's anything wrong with you for choosing aesthetically pleasing characters.
