Re: I had to have my dog euthanized yesterday and I'm miserable.
(Anonymous) 2012-12-19 02:10 am (UTC)(link)My dog died about five and a half years ago, and it still feels painful. I get teary-eyed whenever I even think about him. Even a sad death in a crappy television show can make me sob uncontrollably, because it reminds me of my dog. He was - well, STILL IS - a big part of my life and tbqh I don't think I'll ever get over it. But it does get easier. For me, it took about a year to "recover", but I was able to pull myself together after about a month or two after the death (I could touch his old toys and things and not burst into tears, and I was able to visit his grave).
Like I said, it does get easier, but it can still be painful.
