Breaking News

There are attractive and unattractive geeks of both genders.

Every subculture has it's poseurs. It's not special to geeks, alternative subcultures (goths, punks) have always had a weird preoccupation with weeding out the 'fakers' from the 'true goths/punks/geeks'.

Look at the other two subcultures, goths and punks; originally the were unseemly, their style unattractive. Then, punks and goths became 'in', that style became seen as fashionable. The original goths and punks were upset that their alternative subculture had gone mainstream and shunned those they felt were 'poseurs'.
Now the exact same thing happened with geek chic; hipsters especially (the uncool is cool) has causes geek fashion and culture to be in right now. Exact same thing that happened before.

It's happened with almost every subculture and it will continue to happen with alternative groups like geeks and goths. The end.
