Not an episode, but the movie Timer. It had a cool concept and was decent up until about the last 20 minutes, when it decided that its message was basically going to be that "fate" trumps all and that it's totally cool to let what outside forces dictate your decisions because it's inevitably where you'll end up anyway. Frustrating.

I don't even know if I'd consider that movie as having a moral message, because the attempt would be considered weak at best. :/ I'd like to think the moral would be "live your life, no matter how it ends," but that doesn't really work, does it?

That's true, since the writing was a bit of a mess in general. It almost felt like they were trying to get at the whole, don't wait for something to come along and make your life happen, but if that was the case it kind of got shot all to hell. :|

That was a cool unexpected turn for me, personally. Morals about how ~you create your own destiny~ are nice and all, I subscribe to that philosophy! But for this movie, I was willing to suspend that because I took the moral as something entirely outside of that... that the message was that hypothetically if there is such thing as fate and we do find the technology to help us reach ours more easily, that may not be such a good thing. Or in broader, more applicable to real life terms: sometimes technology is too helpful, and just because it works doesn't mean it should definitely be used. Everything in the movie pointed to yeah, soulmates actually do exist and you'll inevitably meet yours someday, but if that's the case anyway, it's better to get there through your own decisions and mistakes.

What did bother me about that movie was the casual homophobia and racism. That was a shame, because I found the rest of it so interesting.
