Yeah, my issue was that wasn't actually sharing. When you share something (with the exception of something perishable like food) you don't actually give that thing up. You just let someone use it for a time and then they give it back!

There was no giving the scales back. They just demanded the scales and they kept them. That's not sharing that's giving. Which is a nice thing, too, but not as the price of admission for friendship.

Yeah, I agree completely. Even then I thought the teacher's explanation was bullshit. Besides, the fish were the friends of the Rainbow Fish because of the what they could get (a scale) from them. Not because they liked the fish, but because they were selfish pricks.

It's like, "Hey, mutilate your body and give everything about you away to other people so you are no longer yourself. They will never give you anything in return and only like you because you bought them." Great moral!
