Yeah, same in my corners of fandom, I find it fascinating that I like A better than B and I'm the first who wants to know why! So I talk about it.

It's also not just related to a general dislike of a character. Reasons for liking personality traits can be just as varied. I used to share a favourite character with another person in my fandom, and she liked the character for all the traits I considered flaws, endorsing them, and vice versa, and lo and behold, in time it turned out that we have pretty much opposite world views in general too. What a surprise!
