7. Am I the only one that thinks people only read this series because of the cutesy yaoi catboys?
I tried to get through it. I really did. The cast of characters was horribly unlikeable though, so I couldn't despite all amounts of trying.

#7. I think a good deal of the appeal is is the cat ears, but part of the reason I actually liked it is behind the pretty, pretty boys (and the few girls) is it's pretty damn twisted and demented which I'm a fan of <3.

9. I HATE IT TOO! I hate that show with the burning passion of 10,000 suns.
One of my room mates last year watched the entire fucking show on DVD, and I swear it got to the point where the opening two notes of the theme song made me want to commit outrageous acts of violence. (Luckily that was my only real complaint. Fortunately I had good room mates, other than the Gilmore Girls obsession.)

Tangentially related to 7., but mostly related to the whole cat-ears complaint about Loveless.

I don't think...it's as random as people like to say it is? As people have said, it's a sign that someone is a virgin. And I'll admit that I think Kouga Yun made this sign manifest as catears because, well, it's cute. But I do think it serves a purpose, and a lot of that has to do with the fact that catears are, well, silly.

And imagine having something so silly announcing to the world that you haven't been laid yet. After a certain age it must become mortifying...as is seen with a few characters like Shinonome-sensei, where her ears become an excuse for people to treat her less seriously even though she is a physical adult. In that sense, I think it becomes a bit of a psychological thing that's symbolized with the ears.

...and, again, it's cute. So what? At least give us fans that, eh? A lot of creators have silly things like that that they add to their works...Kouga Yun at least had the foresight to come up with a reason for having it, y'know? :D I happen to like Loveless for a lot of reasons, and the cat ears is definitely one of them.

Just my tl;dr thoughts!

I completely agree. I was going to say something like this in response to the comment on the other page, but you've said it better than I could.

Also, why are people so focused on the cat ears? When I saw the secret I assumed the wank would all be about the shota (it's the reason I can't tell anyone I know that I read it at least). Never suspected people would complain about cat ears in the one series that actually explains why they are there.

7. ........I don't think it's because they're gay I think it's because virgins have cat ears for no real reason. Like. I GET CAT EARS! I totally support any level of anthropomorphism, but by COMBINING IT WITH VIRGINITY and thus SEX even if they were all straight couples it'd. Still lose the vast majority of it's credability. Not that I have loveless, mind you, but even while I was watching it I didn't take it seriously.

Yeah, I think I have to agree with you on this one. I've discussed with a few friends the random and out-of-placeness of the cat ears, and I get the why, but it still seemed like virgins were their own separate little species, not just children.

7 Uuuuh I don't dislike it because it's bl? I wouldn't have even given it a chance if it weren't bl - I'm just not a fan of fluffy romance. And it's shallow that I gave it a chance because it was bl, and as a result, when it failed to deliver anything I liked, I gave up on it.

I wouldn't have liked Loveless any more if it were a straight couple, and I'm a little unamused that you used that as a defense. In my experience, there's a LOT more of the bl fans who will like a shallow pretty slash couple more than they would a shallow pretty het couple than there are the people who hate bl inherently. So maybe we've had a different experience, but in my experience, fandom is a ridiculously tolerant place, and I get a little annoyed when people start throwing around "you don't understand my love of pretty girly gay men who fall into every straight couple romance novel stereotype!" I'll give you points, however, for only implying that people who don't like Loveless are homophobes, rather than stating it. =)


21 Oh man, I just love them both. Though, I do love Artemis more. I mean, mmm genius. But I would totally jump either of them given half of a chance. Hell, not even that. If either were real, I would hunt them down and slavishly throw myself at them. I think I like the HP books a little more than the AF books, though. Needs more Artemis Fowl books. =( I want moar to drool over, please. Also, needs some movies for me to fangirl over. I don't care if it gets overly commercialized if it gives me more to love. xD

Wow I fail at writing sometimes. I mean it was shallow of me to be initially interested in it because it had omg two men~, not because it was my cup of tea in any way. Not that it was shallow of me to lose interest in it when it failed to have anything in it that was to my tastes other than two guys together, which is seriously not enough to make me read something that is full of story elements I don't like.

5- It's not so much that there isn't anything, but rather that everything has been friends locked and/or not on lj. I found this: http://www.journalfen.net/community/hp_cornfield/26147.html but it's more crazy than wank (if you haven't already seen it that is), but other than that, nothing is really posted publicly.

and all the other lj stuff has kinda distracted fandom in general from wanking over the book.

7. I was never all that interested in it until a friend of mine had me read it, and I was fairly impressed that there was more going on than just yaoi fluff. (Or I certainly would have given up on it.)

Though in response to all the ear wank...wtf@the shallow. If I never watched an anime because of a minor character design that I dislike, I'd never watch any anime, EVER.

And guys. Wtf. No, I don't think people watch Loveless because some of the characters have ears that you tend to overlook after 5 chapters anyway.
