(Anonymous) 2012-12-20 01:21 pm (UTC)(link)I hadn't read the book (hadn't even heard of it). I went into the movie not knowing much and expecting some average teen indie flick - possibly akin to Juno, which I disliked - and yeah, the first half of that played true with some funny... but I left wrung to pieces. Ended up have a two-minute sob to my roommate on the way home.
I think it just depends on whether you personally can find something in it (which may be swaying my opinion somewhat because, yeah: I did. But that's the same with everyone for all movies), or if you have the nostalgia of that first connection at the right time.
I mean, like I said, I disliked Juno and still don't see what the world saw in it. Also don't get the OMGAMAZING about The Avengers even though I enjoyed it.
