If you like the show that's fine. But the people who criticize it are not people who haven't watched the show. I actually stuck with it for a while as a guilty pleasure type show but it eventually became to hard to watch even as a guilty pleasure. There is a LOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTT to criticize about that show and if you don't want to hear it, stay away from it. The criticism is not going to, and really shouldn't, stop.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-21 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Why shouldn't it stop? Because YOU don't like the show?

(Anonymous) 2012-12-21 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
Because people won't like the show and will have reasons to not like the show, so they will express it. Why SHOULD it stop?

(Anonymous) 2012-12-21 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't say it should. I asked why it shouldn't stop in direct response to something nonnie said. Though I don't see how attacking the fans is going to to do any good. What are people trying to accomplish by that?

(Anonymous) 2012-12-21 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Attacking fans is not good, but I think some people may think an attack on their person is really just someone criticizing a show. I see it often in fandom where people take talking about a television show way too seriously.

The best way to deal with it is to either let it slide off your back or to just avoid it all together. People certainly shouldn't be dicks about things, but that goes both for people who like the show and for people who don't.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-21 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
If people don't like the show, they should be able to say so. If they're purposefully going after fans of the show and being dicks about it, that's one thing, but there's nothing wrong with criticizing it otherwise.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-21 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Going after fans is the thing happening most often. This thread is a prime example.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-21 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
DA. I don't see how this is "going after fans" OP expressed an opinion, other people are expressing theirs, that's generally how fandom secrets works.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-21 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
How is this thread a prime example? No one's saying people are wrong for liking the show. Just that people should be able to say that they don't like it if they don't like it. Just because someone doesn't like a show that you (general you) like doesn't mean they're making a value judgment on you. Different tastes, etc.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-21 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
No opinion of the show but this thread alone is making me think TBBT fans are whiny butthurt babies who think "going after" means "saying something disparaging about something I don't like!!1!" in which case... opposite of the example you want.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-21 08:54 am (UTC)(link)
No, it isn't. Saying that it's OK to criticise a show and pointing out that not all negative opinions are 'parotting the opinion of others" is in no way going after anyone. Unless Big Band Theory fans can't bear the idea that they are ever wrong about anything?

(Anonymous) 2012-12-21 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
You say stay away from it but even in a thread about specifically loving the show we have to deal with fucktards like you. Don't like it? Don't watch. Feel the need to attack the fans? Fuck off.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-21 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
Wow. Here's the thing, I don't watch it anymore, nor do I attack the fans. My comment was not meant in any sort of an angry tone and I am sorry you read it that way, but if OP is sick of this sort of thing the only way to escape it really is to stay away, it's the nature of fandom, not just TBBT.

I did not call anyone a fucktard or make anything personal, you did.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-21 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
So fans of TBBT need to stay away from F!S to avoid getting criticized for liking the show? That's incredibly stupid.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-21 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
Yes? If you've been on F!S any amount of time you know most secrets will have responses that both agree and disagree. If OP was not prepared for different opinions, they didn't need to post here.

If the secret was just "I like this show." I wouldn't have posted anything, because there wouldn't be anything to disagree about because it's their opinion, but I disagreed that people who dislike the show don't really watch it. I was a fan once.

Just saying that you =/= everyone who's ever criticized it. OP might have really different experiences with people who weren't you and didn't at all approach it the way you did.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-21 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
"weeeeeeehhhhh people don't like a thing I like and sometimes talk publicly about the reasons they don't like it weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhh"

(Anonymous) 2012-12-21 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
The AYRT was simply pointing out that not everyone who criticizes the show is someone who hasn't watched it, which was a point specifically brought up in the secret. I don't see how it's attacking fans to address that point.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-21 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
wow clearly you are a perfectly kind and reasonable individual and those big meany not-fans are obviously the ones in the wrong here. you are doing such a great job representing your fandom right now, really

(Anonymous) 2012-12-21 08:56 am (UTC)(link)
What a lovely representative of BBT fans you are. How can anyone dare to critcise either your show or your attitudes?

*marvels*

(Anonymous) 2012-12-21 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
What is about the show you don't like? You say there is a lot to criticize but don't say anything specific; you just tell the fans to stay away.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-21 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
I think this covers it pretty well.
