I'm not a fan of the show, but I've watched half of the first season, and I can understand why some people do like it. I'm all for people expressing why they don't like a show, but anyone who's giving you or other fans crap about liking it or insinuating that your taste is somehow inferior because you do like it is just being a dick.

I watched one episode and I was left with a bad taste in my mouth. And it pretty much confirmed everyone's criticisms about it.

If you like the show that's fine. But the people who criticize it are not people who haven't watched the show. I actually stuck with it for a while as a guilty pleasure type show but it eventually became to hard to watch even as a guilty pleasure. There is a LOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTT to criticize about that show and if you don't want to hear it, stay away from it. The criticism is not going to, and really shouldn't, stop.

Hm. I have criticized this show for various reasons in the past and in doing so I hope I didn't indirectly attack you. There is honestly a lot to like about this show, despite its many flaws, and I understand why people like it. Even I watch it sometimes and I think some of the stuff on it is funny.

I'm not going to claim it's the worst show on TV (it's not even 2nd worst) but I'd still rather slam my wang in a freezer door than sit through another 20 minutes of that puerile, by-the-numbers crap. About the only good thing about it is Sheldon wears DC-comics related shirts.

It's a good show to watch during commercial breaks for your other show. Mildly amusing one-liners, and nothing so complicated plot-wise that you can't jump in and get it, and it takes almost exactly the length of a commercial break for me to get sick of watching it.

I actually have watched The Big Bang Theory.

I sat through one episode where the main male characters were narratively validated for breaking into a woman's apartment in the middle of the night because ~it wasn't clean enough for them~ and it was treated as "oh lol boys will be boys!" and just. No. Fuck no. Fuck off.

It was pure misogynistic bullshit. And the so-called "geek" stuff was actually just shit. Like, really, I'm a geek, I know a ton of geeks, and these guys are just assholes.

I watched this show for three years, and in those three years, the show degenerated past a point where I wanted to watch it. It's belittling to geeks, and it's belittling to women.

I like Amy, I like Bernadette, I like Penny. I just wish all of them were much better treated. Actually, I'd watch the Amy/Bernadette/Penny Show before I'd watch BBT again.

I get people don't like it and that's fine but I am sick of the "people who like this are dumb and not an awesome scientist like me olololol" circle jerk I see on places like reddit. And if I see the nerd blackface argument one more time I'm gonna scream. It's the calling into question of the intelligence of fans and saying you can't possibly like/be a part of geek culture if you don't find it offensive that makes me hate some haters. If you don't find it funny and find the science jarring then fine, but don't call me stupid because I don't care and it makes me chuckle sometimes. Well, the earlier seasons did.

I love it and I won't pretend to dislike it even if some morons whine their little hearts out. It's just a goddamn show, it's not life. Yes, we laugh at everyone on the show. Sometimes the geeks are awesome, sometimes it pays to be more "normal" if that's what you want to label it. But it's just a show. Anyone taking it too seriously really have nothing better to do and are living up to stereotypes about people in the internet. Reading through that, I never once felt the way that author did.

I like jokes about the show because I find them funny, but I wouldn't make fun of people who like it, so I'm sorry people treat you badly because of it.

That said, I very much dislike it, but I have seen 3.5 seasons of it (my family likes it so we watch it together), so I feel that my strong distaste for it is well routed in that I have seen it, so I know exactly what I hate about it. I think it's silly to assume that most people who have beef with it have never watched; most of the people I know who dislike it have seen a good deal of it.
