I actually have watched The Big Bang Theory.

I sat through one episode where the main male characters were narratively validated for breaking into a woman's apartment in the middle of the night because ~it wasn't clean enough for them~ and it was treated as "oh lol boys will be boys!" and just. No. Fuck no. Fuck off.

It was pure misogynistic bullshit. And the so-called "geek" stuff was actually just shit. Like, really, I'm a geek, I know a ton of geeks, and these guys are just assholes.

And you are the person OP is talking about.

NAYRT

Well, no. Criticising a television show is not the same as criticising a person for watching a television show. There is a massive difference between "This is a bad show" and "You are a bad person for watching this show". I don't agree with nonny's interpretation of the episode - I thought the narrative made it quite clear that Sheldon was being a creep - but they are entitled to criticise the show as much as they damn well want.

Exactly. I don't watch the show, but I think it's silly and childish to go around insulting people who do.

If you like the show, fine, more power to you; you hate the show, fine, more power to you. But to have people being nasty and going after each other because of a goofy sitcom is just ridiculous.

WHUT? Seen the show before criticising? Check. Attack show not fans? Check. They are the *exact opposite* of the OP's gripe.

All the BBT fans here seem to confuse "have specific serious problems with show" with "hate all fans of show" and to have serious reading comprehension difficulties.

No, it is treated as creepy and wrong. Sheldon is the on;y one who doesn't get that.

Exactly. I don't know how anyone could watch that episode and think the characters were shown to be in the right. It is to show that Sheldon has no ability to assess what is or isn't appropriate socially, and also to show his disruptive need for cleanliness, even in someone else's home. Penny demands her key back from them, and while her confrontation is humiliating for Leonard, it is humiliating because he knows what they did was totally inappropriate. She later forgives them for it, which is not portrayed as validating their behavior, but more showing that SHE is a kind person.

THANK YOU.

It wasn't validated. And Sheldom was the one with the problem with Penny's mess (he says she is clean).

A+ for not paying attention at all.
