I haven't even found those! I'd read that, and honestly if I ever wrote one it would be along those lines (more the political intrigue than the campaign) because the other stuff is pretty boring on the day to day.

The ones involving political intrigue are definitely my favorite. It's one of those things that I've seen done very, very rarely, but what I've run across is so good that I wonder why it's not more popular, lol. The ones I've found are in ST:XI, Supernatural and CWRPS fandoms. If you're interested in reading any of them, I'd be happy to dig up links. :)

Hah, I figured it would be for fandoms I'm not in. I don't watch Supernatural, but what the hey, I've read a few J2 fics, and if it's AU anyway...links would be appreciated :D

That's always the way it goes, lol. Forewarning, I tend to gravitate towards long fic, so these are all pretty lengthy.

Supernatural:

Kids in the Riot (http://deancastiel.livejournal.com/2481385.html#cutid1) - Political AU with some bonus terrorists and spies thrown in. It works in a lot of canon elements, but I don't think you need to be familiar with the series at all to follow it. It's a bit more Tom Clancy-ish than a straight-up political AU, but it's a good read.

J2:

Talking Points (http://danny.talkoncorners.net/rpf/talkingpoints.shtml) - Jensen is Texas' Lieutenant Governor and Jared is an undercover reporter who takes a job as his press secretary.
Half Truths and Whole Lies (http://rocketslash.livejournal.com/23187.html#cutid1) - I haven't read this one yet, so I can't vouch for it, but it has Jensen as an ex-journalist and Jared as an ex-Democratic speech writer who's been hired to help co-write Jensen's memoirs... could be interesting?
Know Your Damn Constituents (http://archiveofourown.org/works/81058/chapters/108237) - I haven`t gotten a chance to read this one either, but it`s campaign fic and the summary sounds like it could be awesome.

Jensen/Misha:

Of Love and Other Political Affairs (http://archiveofourown.org/works/556574?page=1#comments) - Misha is running for President and Jensen works as his personal assistant. It's a wee bit soap-operaish in places, but it's a good read overall.
