I think it's important to recognize that you can agree with someone's ideas but not their rhetoric. When people can't tell the difference between the two, I think that's a problem.

It's also important to recognize that you can believe strongly in something without agreeing with everyone who also believes in it. There's room for some disagreement. You can even feel like someone has a reasonable take on something, but still ultimately not agree with it 100%.

I don't think it has to be a matter of picking one extreme or the other.
