yikes

was that last part necessary? I love hyperbole and a half! I was just voicing how I could see where the op was coming from on one part of their secret

never said I agreed with the rest of it, much less with their tone

also, I know it is exaggerated, but the backbone of that story was "me and my friends pretended we were wolves and bit this teenager who was playing with us, then ran back home for cake, he was left behind" or something to that effect

that surely was something that happened, and the rest (the girls getting too into the role, and all the dramatic tension and so on) was exaggerated

what I mean is that leaving somebody alone in a forest, lost, is a very shitty thing to do, even for children, and was asking if that is something that happens normally

I don't have many points of reference for situations like this, as I haven't interacted with many children through all my life nor had many opportunities to observe them or whatever

Young children tend to believe that adults (which, from their perspective, often includes teenagers) can do anything, and might not realize that a teenager is capable of getting lost in some woods that the child herself is familiar with and can navigate without trouble. (It can take a while for young children to realize that "things I know" =/= "things everyone knows.) I kind of figured that she and the other kids just assumed he'd get back to the house just like they did.
