*sigh* Where exactly do you propose we go to do that? Most of us don't hang out in those places. We're just speaking up about what we see going on *here*.

Believe me, if I were there when that happened, I would be all over that shit, calling them out and denouncing that atrocity.

Fandom is huge and diverse and there is NO WAY we can chase out ALL the assholes. Most people realize that all fandoms have dark, shitty corners. This isn't to say we shouldn't try, but it's NEVER going to be perfect. Painting everyone with the same shitty brush is still an irresponsible way to approach the situation, in my opinion.

By the way, if you're so angry - and you definitely should be, I am too - about what happened, why don't you stop arguing with and talking down people here and instead go over to wherever it is this happened and complain? Isn't that kind of what you're saying to ayrt?

That's the thing. I'm not really involved in the MLP fandom, unless you count here. I haven't posted in a journal in months and I rarely use my Tumblr. I have a few friends irl who I fan over MLP with who already know about this shit. That's really my "fandom" right now.

I've actually been thinking about what I want to do about this, but I haven't decided. I don't exactly have a following anywhere and I don't want to be that person who just posts propaganda every few months and never says anything else. (I think it's annoying when people do that and I take them less seriously.)

I might do that anyway. idk yet.

I'm in the same exact position. My internet presence is exactly nil (and I don't even have irl friends who fan over MLP).

Like, making an account just for talking about this when I have no idea what exactly to say (irl I prefer to avoid confrontation at all costs and this tends to extend to the internet) and zero following or knowledge of how to get that following seems kind of... yeah.

Your earlier idea of a group does have merit. An actual community to direct and organize efforts (who to post information, who to gather contacts willing to address this too, etc.) sounds good but it's not something I've ever done and I have only the faintest clues of how something like that works.

Dammit, if I had a DW/LJ account I would like to take this to PMs to continue discussing it with you.

And the group thing wasn't actually my idea, it was an anon I replied to, but I would be all over that. I think it would be a great idea. I just...don't have any idea where to start. What would be the best forum for that? How would I organize it/get information? I don't think I'm exactly the most fandom-savvy person out there...

Honestly, if the brony says type tumblrs had less of an emphasis on mocking and a bigger emphasis on networking, we probably wouldn't be here discussing this.

The only snag there is, is that, popular as tumblr is, it can be an echo chamber, and the mlp fandom is way bigger than just tumblr.

LJ and DW are the only places I'm really familiar with...would that really be super visible, though?

DW is very niche even by internet standards, and LJ is too, if more popular than DW

I mean, from the outside, LJ is mostly known for drama and wank coming from journals and fandom communities (and the porn. oh, the porn)

I feel like much of the internet-world that even knows about LJ just assumes it is basically synonymous with ONTD.
